When looking to incorporate the use of technology into teaching and learning it is important to use a reflective process to avoid the use of a tool because it is "whiz, bang, fun." I recommend the TPACK model. "TPACK is the basis of effective teaching with technology, requiring an understanding of the representation of concepts using technologies; pedagogical techniques that use technologies in constructive ways to teach content; knowledge of what makes concepts difficult or easy to learn and how technology can help redress some of the problems that students face." (Koehler & Mishra, 2009). Watch the two minute video below for an overview of TPACK. Visit TPACK.org to learn more.
