A learning management system (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, automation and delivery of educational courses, learning programs and/or professional development offerings. Learning Management Systems are focused on online learning delivery but support a range of uses. They provide a platform for online content, including courses, both asynchronous based and synchronous based. A Learning Management System may offer a testing feature, gradebook integration, and discussion boards as well as many other features.
